In the name of Jesus to share the gospel journey in Uganda

Part 8: The Holy Spirit Forgive Sins and Wash Away Sins

(John 20:22-23) And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”'

(Acts 19:1-7) And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” So they said to him, “We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.” And he said to them, “Into what then were you baptized?” So they said, “Into John’s baptism.” Then Paul said, “John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.” When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied. Now the men were about twelve in all.'

The baptism conducted by those who have received the Holy Spirit has the power and authority to forgive sins. This is in line with Bible. It is the Holy Spirit to forgive sins. If those who baptize us do not have the Holy Spirit, then this is a baptism of repentance, not a baptism of forgiveness of sins. If we take the baptism of repentance, that means our sins are still retained with us, and it is impossible for us to receive the Holy Spirit because of sins.

On Dec 31, 2019, pastor Muwangbuzi in eastern Uganda and other local pastors received the true living water baptism and received the Holy Spirit. They come originally from Pentecostal churches. Pastor Muwanguzi said that this baptism was different from the previous baptism with the face up. The previous baptism was like taking the shower without any touch. He said he felt something leave his body and his body become very light.

(Acts 22:16) And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.’'

(Acts 9:18-19) Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was baptized. So when he had received food, he was strengthened. Then Saul spent some days with the disciples at Damascus.
